food     bank

St. Mary’s Food Bank

The food bank was established in 1975. Food is donated by parishioners, various organizations, or is purchased from Foodshare with donated funds. The food bank is opened five days per week. It is stocked by volunteers, and volunteers distribute food to clients who have been referred by the Social Service Department of East Hartford. Each holiday, the church also prepares and delivers baskets to needy families. During the month of March, 2010, St. Mary’s provided 3 meals per day for 3 days for 68 people.

If you would like to volunteer or donate food or funds, please contact the Parish Office at 860-289-7916
St. Rose Food Bank

St. Rose Food Pantry has been providing food to families in need in East Hartford for almost 30 years. It was begun in the early 80's by a group of volunteers and has been in continuous operation since then. We are presently open 4 days per week but would like to be open Monday through Friday, and perhaps on occasional Saturdays if we can find enough volunteers to work. We welcome donations of nonperishable food items and money from parishioners and also receive funds to operate from the Archbishop's Annual Appeal and from Foodshare. We typically serve an average of 10 to 12 families each week.

To volunteer or to donate, please contact the Parish Office at 860-289-7916
